Post-Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management

BIM is offering this Diploma course since 1966-67. The Diploma in Personnel Management course is designed to suit the requirements of labor and social welfare officers, personnel managers and similar officers/ executives engaged in the Personnel the programme encourages development of knowledge and skill necessary to carry out the management functions of industrial enterprises effectively and efficiently. Public Sector Corporations offer special salary/ increments and other service benefits to their officers/executives for qualifying the course.

Rules & Regulations

Tentative Duration of the Diploma
The classes are conducted in the evening from 5.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. three days in a week. On successful completion of first part examination, candidates are allowed to continue the classes for the Second Part. On completion of Part-II final examination (written) the candidates are called for viva voce. After completion of the viva voce, the candidates prepare an internship report according to his/her area of interest. The Internship Report calls on the candidates to carry out an assignment in an enterprise or to undertake a project work under the supervision of a Faculty member.

Eligibility

Graduates in any subject(2 years after H.S.C or 4 years after S.S.C) from a recognized University, college or Institute are eligible for admission. Persons having a Diploma in Engineering and subsequently obtained AMIE membership, are also eligible to apply. For admission to Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Industrial Management , a Bachelors Degree in Science will be preferred.

Interested participants need to apply in a prescribed form , along with attested copies of certificates/testimonials and 2 copies of passport size photographs. Applications should reach the Chairman, Executive Committee of Diploma Courses, BIM, 4, Sobhanbag, Mirpur Road, Dhaka-1207 within the specified time.

Admissions forms may be obtained personally from BIM office or thorough mail by sending a request letter enclosing a self addressed envelope and a pay/order/DD only in favor of Chairman, Diploma Course Committee, Dhaka.

Selection

Generally. Eighty (80%) percents of the seats are filled-up by qualified candidates nominated by their employers, while the rest by fresh graduates intending to undertake a career in Personnel Management and Financial Management, Marketing Management or Computer Science. As the available seats are limited applicant are to appear at a Selection Test.

Examination

Candidates need to pass in all papers of the curricula individually. For any papers of the curricula individually. For any paper the minimum pass mark is 45 percent. For securing First Class the marks required are 60% and above. While for second class the requirement is 45% and above. Only 1st and 2nd Classes are awarded. Detail rules are available at Diploma cell. The participants are advised to know the rules and regulation at their own accord for guidance.


Residential Accommodations and Living Expenses

BIM has limited hostel facility which is ordinarily in great demand in great demand. The rooms are usually shared with another candidate and are adequately furnished. All rooms have attached bathrooms. The present charges are Tk. 1050/- per person per month and is payable in advance.

Foreign students may avail single rooms well furnished (including linen) with attached bathroom for US$200 per month. And, almost a similar amount may be necessary to cover expenses for food. This facility is available at the Dhaka Centre only.
