The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI):
The Dhaka Chamber of
Commerce and Industry(DCCI) established a Training Centre already in the
Year 1991. The Centre has become a widely recognized premier Business
School of the country providing need-based and customized training services.
At present, almost all training courses rendered by DCCI have a duration
ranging from 3 to 5 days. But such courses are not enough to promote sustainable
entrepreneurship. They can only give an orientation on the trained subjects
and there are little possibilities for follow up activities. It appears
that side by side with these short courses, the members of the business
community are also in need of long-term courses and for direct, individual
supervision and consultancy.
In order to meet the growing demand of the business community with a special
emphasis on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), The Dhaka Chamber of
Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has established the DCCI Business Institute(DBI)
with the financial and technical assistance of GTZ, the German Technical
Cooperation. The DBI is an advanced extension of the Business Advisory
Service(BAS) Project, which has been established in February 1996.
DBI offers short term courses which seems quite useful for managers, entrepreneurs
and other business personnel. With fees ranging
usually from around 1200/- to 1700/-. The courses are on computerized
Financial Analysis, Garments Merchandising, Marketing, Business Communication,
L/C, Environmental Management, Indenting,
Shipping procedures, Garments Quality Control, Financial Statement Analysis,
Tax, Production Planning, Electronic Commerce, feasibility studies, HRD,
Management Information System.
